Amey wins place on Yorkshire Water framework

Amey has been appointed by Yorkshire Water to join its Minor Civils framework, the contract is worth up to £20m and will run from 2020 to 2025

The framework contract award will see Amey build upon its existing relationship with Yorkshire Water, having worked together for nearly ten years.

David McLoughlin, managing director for Amey Utilities, said: “We are delighted that Yorkshire Water has decided to continue our partnership together. Amey makes over 30,000km of new clean water connections and completes 200,000 successful repair and maintenance jobs every year, and we’re excited to apply our expertise to the challenges that lie ahead for Yorkshire Water.

“The next investment cycle is expected to raise a variety of issues for the water industry. This includes population growth increasing the demand for water, on infrastructure that needs updating, along with the need for innovative problem solving, as the importance of looking after the environment increases.

“We look forward to supporting Yorkshire Water over the next five years in tackling these problems whilst delivering an excellent service to customers.”

Mark Baker, head of programme delivery at Yorkshire Water, said: “We are excited to see the conclusion of this process and welcome our partners to support our ambitions and challenges over the next five years.

“It will result in the formation of a truly collaborative, innovative and efficient delivery vehicle through our aspirations of the Enterprise delivery model.”

This framework will enable Yorkshire Water’s ‘Programme First’ approach, choosing dynamic, focused and driven partners with self-delivery capabilities.

Amey already has a strong presence in the region through infrastructure services such as delivering street lighting on behalf of Wakefield Council, through the Building Schools for the Future initiative in Bradford and the delivery of Allerton Waste Recovery Park.
