£2bn Offsite Housing Framework Revealed

Construction firms will have the opportunity to bid for a place on an offsite housing framework set to be renewed by procurement specialist LHC, which is worth around £2bn.

Under the new arrangement, separate panels of firms will be chosen to deliver a selection of offsite housing projects across regions in England, Wales and Scotland.

The four-year offsite housing framework is estimated to offer w

ork worth up to £1bn in England, £600m in Scotland and £400m in Wales.

The framework has been split into four workstreams. These include: volumetric systems (including choices for housing, apartments, adaptive pods, roof extensions and temporary accommodation); panelised systems; high-rise projects and turnkey low-rise projects.

Within each workstream, buyers can choose which options they can deliver.

It is aimed at delivering housing apartments, adaptive pods, student housing, care homes, roof extensions and temporary accommodation, all using offsite systems.

The new four-year set-up replaces a prior single national arrangement secured by seven specialist firms.

This includes many of the big players including: Extraspace Solutions (UK), Module-AR, MTX Contracts, The McAvoy Group, Portakabin, Western Building Systems and Wernick Buildings.

Some 200 publicly financed organisations throughout the UK presently use LHC frameworks to procure works, goods and services to construct, refurbish and maintain social housing, schools and public buildings.

The second-generation offsite housing framework will be open for use by all public sector organisations including local authorities and registered providers.

Firms have until 21 September to express an interest.
